The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has issued the permit for the restoration of Lake Washington.
According to Jon Husband, New Castle County Special Services Department (SSD), the County sewer installation work will continue into the fall and winter. When that work is completed, the contractor will begin work on Lake Washington, probably in late winter. No, the Dance Hall and other structures will not be rebuilt on the Lake. We envision a beautiful, serene Lake which will be visible from Route 41.
Jon Husband stated, "This project is a credit to the Friends of Brandywine Springs for not giving up." We are very grateful to Jon, Saurabh Srivastava (SSD), and everyone involved for their perseverance and dedication to bring this project to this point. It has been a long time coming!
